ALEX l 7 MONTHS

So many new things are happening for you little man! I think you have a "first"almost every day (OK, maybe that's an exaggeration...) This month we have seen you start eating, get your first teeth, sleep through the night, your first trip to the US, first snow, first New Year's. Its been a busy busy month!

EAT

And so it has begun. You are eating solid foods. So far you have eaten bananas, apples, avocado, and oat cereal. Apples are coming up the big winner, its the only food you have finished yet... looks like you're already developing a sweet tooth. Next we'll try sweet potatoes and squash... gotta get some veggies in you. You're still eating 5oz bottles of breast milk and have started drinking formula at night.

7 Month Schedule:

8am: wake up & 5oz bottle
-play-
10:30am: sleep
11:30-12pm: eat 5oz bottle
-play-
3-3:30pm: sleep
5pm: eat 5 oz bottle
-play-
(6pm: 20 min nap in the car - but you're starting to skip this, probably because its not dark at this time anymore)
6:30pm: Dinner: oat cereal and fruit or veg
7pm: 5oz bottle
-play-
8:30pm: Bedtime Routine
books
bath
lotion & PJ's
prayers, kisses, & bottle

PLAY

As long as Mommy and Daddy are close by, you will sit happily for 20 minutes and play on your play mat with your toys. You have a brand new "cellphone" that you got for Christmas and it is definitely you favorite. You also love to play on our bed and I get the biggest smiles when you get there. We always play there before Daddy comes home. We have been reading books and you have been working on your crawling skills... You're not exactly mobile yet but you manage to get yourself to whatever has caught your attention. You have a bit of a crawl and flop thing going on... You get up on all fours, crawl about 1 step and then throw yourself belly-flop style in the direction you want to go. Its pretty amazing. One day you managed to get across the bed and pull one of your books right off the shelf. I'm sure I'll be writing all about crawling and sitting by the next month update.
You got fussy at the end of the month and I have no doubt that one of your upper teeth is about to break through.

SLEEP

This was a difficult month for sleep. We were finishing up our time in the US and just as you got in sync with the time there, we headed home. Our first week back was filled with many midnight (or later) 2 hour play times. But by the last week of the month you were back and track and possibly better than before. When you sleep is our bed with us, you don't make a peep, not even to eat, for up to 10 hours! You let us sleep in 2 weekend days until 11am! And when you do wake up at night, you are so snuggly and sweet that its hard to be mad at you... you just want kisses and hugs. We're trying to get you to sleep through the night in the crib and you're slowly getting better at it. You always start the night there and once or twice you've lasted the whole night there!

We love you so much little man and you continue to amaze us everyday.

WEEKEND UPDATE

We had quite the busy weekend! Friday we took Alex to the Al Ain Zoo for the first time. At 5 1/2 months it may have been more than he could really appreciate, but he had fun hanging out with the family. One of the first animals we got to see was the white tiger. And it also happened to be the only animal he noticed... possibly because of the similarity to Jasmine and Aladdin.

That night we crashed on the couch and the little man passed out as soon as we got home from the zoo. So many plans to clean, organize, etc, were replaced with selfies!

Saturday we got a much needed coffee and headed out to the mall to do some last minute shopping to prepare for India! The boys went to by a shirt for Justin's suit and the ladies + Alex headed to H&M to get the kids clothes.
Auntie found the boys the cutest wedding outfits!

4 More working days and then the holiday adventures begin! First we head to Kerala, India for Uncle Justin's wedding. After 10 days there we fly to Boston for 10 days... This will be Alex's first plane rides and his first time to India and the US. I cannot wait for him to meet all the families and see SNOW!!!

MY CHRISTMAS WISHLIST

There are quite a few things that I am wishing for this Christmas... Living abroad makes you go a little shopping crazy when you make it home for a visit... Target, Old Navy, anything online that I can ship in the US. While most things are easily bought in the UAE, getting the brands I love can be difficult. I bring an extra suitcase home just so I can stock up!

I need some motivation to start losing some weight!!! And I'm loving the silent alarm it has. We co-sleep with Alex and just this morning my husband woke him up 3 times hitting snooze on his alarm. As cute as his little head popping up to see whats going on is... I prefer a sleeping baby at 6am.

Living in the middle East, some things are quite as convenient as home... There are no CVS or Target to get pictures printed. At the moment we have about 4 photos on display in our entire home, all of which my mom sent me my first year I moved here. Its time to get the wedding and baby pictures up!

Its cute and I need a new lunch bag! 'Nuf said.

I'm loving this simple, delicate necklace. I'm not a fan of big jewelry and I love that there is meaning to it.

5. Go-Go-Bag
In January, we will officially be transferring the little man into his crib and his own room. We will definitely be picking up a sleep sack. This one is pricey, but lasts from Newborn to 2 years, and based on other bloggers opinions, definitely worth the splurge. Not to mention having the soft merino wool to keep little man comfy.

December Goal

Maybe taking on 3 goals for the month was too much to add to my schedule... because I didn't follow through with any of them :(

This month I am only going to focus on one! I want to drink at least 2L of water daily.
I am going to start carrying my Nalgene with me all the time and write in my planner how much to drink with each meal.

Here we go again!
